Duties of the Captain of the Day

Home games

  • Arrange two players (male or female, but not both female) to man the car park barriers (if not previously arranged)
  • Arrange for remaining players to lay out the equipment ready for play (if not previously arranged)
  • Prepare the match cards & holders
  • Ensure the match fee from team members is collected – £3.00 each [Ensure the Expenses form is completed (spare forms in a green folder in the filing cabinet in the Clubhouse)
  • Ensure the post-game drinks list is arranged and given to the bar staff
  • Liase with the opposition Captain – i.e. swop team members’ names, and rink allocations
  • Give the pre-match welcome speech
    • Advising that smoking or vaping is prohibited within the Club grounds
  • Give the post-match speech
  • Advise the webmaster of the result so the website can be updated – perhaps photograph the scorecards and send them [to the webmaster]
  • Ensure the equipment and the visitors sheds are secure
  • Oversee the clean-up of the clubhouse

Away games

  • Ensure transport is arranged for all team members
    • Work out a leaving time from the recreation ground car park
  • Prepare the match cards and card holder and take them with you
  • When at the match location liase with the opposition Captain – i.e. swop team members’ names, and rink allocations
  • Collect the match fee from team members – £3.00 each  [Ensure the Expenses form is completed (spare forms in a green folder in the filing cabinet by the bar) and take one with you
  • Give the post-match speech
  • Advise the webmaster of the result so the website can be updated – perhaps photograph the scorecards and send them [to the webmaster]
