Duties of the Captain of the Day

Home games

  • Nominate two players (at least one male) to arrive early to man the car park barriers
  • Arrange for remaining players to lay out the equipment ready for play and raise the flag
  • Prepare the match cards & holders
  • Ensure the match fee from team members is collected – £3.00 each – complete an Expenses form (spare forms in a green folder in the filing cabinet in the Clubhouse) and arrange for fees and form to be given to the Treasurer (put in mini safe on the bar)
  • Ensure the post-game drinks slips are completed and given to the bar team
  • Liaise with the opposition Captain – i.e. swap team members’ names, and rink allocations
  • Give the pre-match welcome speech
    • Advising that smoking or vaping is prohibited within the Club grounds
  • Ensure all equipment is cleared from the green and all sheds are locked
  • Give the post-match speech
  • Send results/photograph the scorecards to the appropriate league contact (if a league game)
  • Advise the webmaster of the result so the website can be updated
  • Request all players to assist to ensure the clubhouse is left in a clean and tidy state
  • Leave completed/signed scorecards in the tin on the windowsill

Away games

  • Check players have made transport arrangements
  • Prepare the match cards and card holder and take them with you
  • When at the match location liaise with the opposition Captain – i.e. swap team members’ names, and rink allocations
  • Collect the match fee from team members – £3.00 each – complete an Expenses form (spare forms in a green folder in the filing cabinet in the Clubhouse) and arrange for fees and form to be given to the Treasurer (put in mini safe on the bar)
  • Give the post-match speech
  • Send results/photograph of the scorecards to the appropriate league contact (if a league game)
  • Advise the webmaster of the result so the website can be updated
  • Put completed/signed scorecards in the tin on the windowsill at earliest convenience
