1. Dress correctly for all games.
2. Be on time for your match.
3. Greet your own team members and opponents at the start of the game and congratulate or compliment them at the end of play.
4. Shake hands before a match, and at its conclusion (Covid-19 permitting).
5. The Skip shall have sole charge of the team, and the players shall observe his/her instructions.
6. Together with the opposing Skip they shall decide all disputed points, and, when both agree, their decision shall be final.
7. When delivering a bowl, one foot must be fully on the mat before delivery, and at the moment of delivery all, or part of one foot, should be on or above the mat.
8. Stand still when a player is on the mat.
9. Do not talk or make a noise behind the mat when a player is about to deliver a bowl.
10. Remain behind the mat, or behind the head when it is not your turn to play.
11. Always remember that, as soon as your bowl has come to rest, possession of the rink passes to your opponent.
12. Concentrate fully on the game. Save your socialising until afterwards.
13. Keep to your own rink. Do not become a wanderer, and do not distract other bowlers by walking down the centre of your rink when you are changing ends.
14. Help clear bowls. Maintain the scorecard and alter the scoreboard after bowls have been kicked back or pushed back by the losing lead (if pushers are allowed).
15. Losing lead also puts out a bowl for the winning lead, whose only concern is to put down the mat and deliver the jack.
16. Pick up the mat for your opponent after the last bowl has been delivered.
17. On sunny days, be aware of your shadow. Do not let it mask the jack, nor permit it to fall in front of the mat when a player is about to bowl.
18. Avoid obscuring rink markers.
19. Be aware of players on the next rink.
20. Do not walk past the end of a rink when a player is about to bowl towards you.
21. Stand well back from the head when drive shots are being played and warn others on adjacent rinks of the fact.
22. Encourage and praise the rest of the team, including the Skip.
23. Never criticise your opponent, the greens, or your own team. If you cannot say something positive, don’t say anything at all.
24. Always appear to be enjoying the game.
25. Compliment your opponent on a good shot.
26. Admit a fluke with grace.
27. Be a gracious winner and a good loser.
28. Learn the Laws of the Game and abide by them.
