100up or 80up rule

100up (or 80 up) rules when both players could both get 100 or 80 on the same end. The winner is the player who first accumulates 100 (or 80) points.

Here is a worked example.
Both players are on 95 going into the final end, and eight bowls are in play.

Positions after the end (closest to the jack first):

Position Points Owner
1st closest bowl = 4 points for Player A
2nd closest bowl = 3 points for Player B
3rd closest bowl = 2 points for Player B
4th closest bowl = 1 point for Player A

Each player would score 5 points on this end, so both would finish on 100 points.

Counting from the 4-point bowl down:

  1. A’s 4-point bowl takes A to 99 points
  2. B’s 3-point bowl takes B to 98 points
  3. B’s 2-point bowl takes B to 100 points, so B wins.
  4. A’s 1-point bowl is never counted.

TIED BOWLS

If tied for shot – end declared DEAD – no points awarded

If tied for Second shot – shot bowl only counts – 4 points only awarded

If tied for Third shot – first and second bowls count – 7 point only awarded

If tied for Fourth shot – first, second and third bowls count – 9 points awarded
