2024 Short Mat Competitions Format & Rules

Trail ends are allowed

SINGLES

  1. Four woods will be played by each player
  2. Games up to the semi-final will be played over 15 ends
  3. The Semi-Final will also be played over 15 ends
  4. A coin will be tossed at the start of each game for control of the mat at the first end
  5. The Marker shall record the score on each end played and will be responsible for all measuring where necessary.
  6. It will be the responsibility of the first named player to contact his/her opponent to arrange the match and to organise a marker for that match

PAIRS

  1. Two woods will be played by each player
  2. Games up to the semi-final will be played over 15 ends
  3. The Semi-Final will also be played over 15 ends
  4. A coin will be tossed at the start of each game for control of the mat at the first end
  5. No Marker is required for Pairs.
  6. It will be the responsibility of the first named player to contact his/her opponent to arrange the match and to organise a marker for that match

80 UP

  1. Four woods will be played by each player
  2. The bowl nearest the jack will score 4, the next nearest 3 then 2 and 1
  3. The bowler who is nearest the jack has the mat on the next end
  4. The first player to reach 80 is the winner
  5. A coin will be tossed at the start of each game for control of the mat at the first end
  6. The Marker shall record the score on each end played and will be responsible for all measuring where necessary.
  7. It will be the responsibility of the first named player to contact his/her opponent to arrange the match and to organise a marker for that match

£3:00 entrance fee for each Competition

NB: Players are reminded that on the day of the match they are not allowed to play a Roll-up or practice on the mat designated for their match.

This could lead to disqualification.
