Weekend drives

As referenced at the Welcome Meeting, there will be Weekend Drives (organised social roll-ups) through the 2025 season on the following dates (all with a 2pm start time):

11 May

10 August

15 June

17 August

29 June

31 August

20 July

21 September

Note: Subject to change should league fixtures need to be re-arranged.

Such drives are open to ALL playing members regardless of level of skill or experience and will have a competitive element, with each member of the winning team on each date, receiving a prize.

Registration same as one day events, ie. list in clubhouse and online – there is also the opportunity to just turn up on the day (precedence would be given to those who had pre-registered should there not be sufficient rinks available).

Cost £3 to include tea and biscuits at the end of the session and a prize for each member of the winning team.

Time – we ask members to arrive between 1.30 –1.45 to register/select playing position ticket.  The barrier will be manned from 1.30 and (at least) one registered player will be contacted pre session to assist on the barrier.

Dress – Casual/bowls shoes

Wet Weather – If the Green is closed by then the Greenkeeper, then no play. If weather is damp a decision by organisers of the day will be made by 12:00 midday and we will do our best to inform registered entrants.

Teams will be randomly selected on the day by entrantsselecting tokens from pots (more experienced players (determined by event organiser) will chose from a second pot, thus making teams more even and spreading expertise).  The more experienced player is not expected to skip for the team, it will be up to the team to: decide on playing positions, set up and put away necessary equipment and complete own score cards.

The number of entrants will determine whether pairs/triples/rinks and number of bowls per player

One of the organisers will be appointed as umpire on the day and their word/decision is final.

Should you require any further information please contact one of the following:

David File, Denise George, Elaine Hudson, Jackie Elliot, Ron Hudson, Colin Squires
