Short Mat Competition Rules

All internal competitions must follow the normal rules of short mat bowls.

Singles

• Each player has 4 bowls.
• The match is played over 18 ends.

Pairs

• Each team consists of two players.
• Each player has 2 bowls.
• The match is played over 18 ends.

(Normal scoring)

80 Up (Singles)

• Each player has 4 bowls.
• The first player to reach 80 points wins.
• The four bowls closest to the jack score points, according to their position:

Scoring
Closest to the jack – 4 points
Second closest – 3 points
Third closest – 2 points
Fourth closest (furthest of the four) 1 point

Note 1– The four scoring positions are ranked by distance from the jack, regardless of who owns the bowl. Each player scores the points for the positions their own 100up (or 80 up) rules when both players could both get 100 or 80 on the same endbowls occupy.
